The LNGreen Project is granted the Innovation Award by CWC

2015-12-03

Paris – December 3, 2015. GTT, the world leader in the design of membrane containment systems for the maritime transportation and storage of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), announces that the LNGreen Project was granted the Innovation Award from CWC at the occasion of its sixteenth annual World LNG summit taking place in Rome from 1 to 4 December. This joint Innovation Project is resulting from the cooperation between GTT, DNV-GL, Hyundai Heavy Industries and the shipowner GasLog.  The LNGreen Project aims to develop a new-generation of LNG carriers of capacity from 174,000-cbm up to 182,800-cbm better suited to current trading patterns than existing vessels. This state-of-the-art LNG carrier concept has a significantly improved environmental footprint, a higher level of energy efficiency, as well as an improved boil-off rate and cargo capacity. The cargo containment aspects have been considered by GTT, including tank shapes, necessary reinforcements and boil off rate calculation.

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT commented: “We are very proud of this acknowledgement of GTT’s innovation efforts and our ability to work closely with industry partners. This is also the second time in three years that GTT has received the CWC innovation award. This underlines the fantastic potential of the GTT "innovation machine". We are looking forward to working further on this innovative vessel in projects with our clients”.
